A&H Hargreaves is a FIRAS Certified company for the Installation of Fire resisting timber doors/doorsets
When it comes to the safety of your home or business in Lancashire, fire doors are a critical line of defence. But did you know that proper installation is just as important as the door itself? That’s where FIRAS certification comes in. As a FIRAS certified company, A&H Hargreaves ensures your timber fire doors are installed correctly and up to code, giving you peace of mind and potentially saving lives.
Why is third party certification important?
Third -party certification of fire doors and doorsets provides crucial evidence that a fire door, when correctly installed and maintained, is fit for purpose and complies with fire door regulations, designed to protect lives and property.
Offering traceability throughout the construction supply chain, including important information about the door’s component parts, fire door third-party certification is a reassuring way to ensure that a fire door will perform as designed in the event of a fire.
We are a member of the British Woodworking Federation, to find out more information on third party certification visit the BWF website.
What is FIRAS?
Warringtonfire operates UKAS (Unit Kingdom Accreditation Service) accredited certification schemes for both products and for companies involved in their installation.
The FIRAS scheme promotes good practice for the installation and maintenance of passive fire protection products and requires the use of quality assurance methods in procedures, competence and documentation to ensure that appropriate quality control is being carried out and documents by a certified company.
FIRAS is a voluntary, third-party certification scheme for installation contractors of both passive and active fire protection systems, operated by Warringtonfire and accredited by UKAS to BS EN ISO/IEC 17065:2012
The FIRAS scheme was established in 1994 and continues to date to be the leading certification body for companies installing passive and active fire protection systems. The FIRAS Rules and Regulations are now in their 18th edition and are continuously improved, made more robust and adaptable to industry and regulatory changes over time

What does this mean for you?
- You will receive a Certificate of Conformity to add into your Health and Safety file, Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules and for use during your Fire Safety Inspections
- Preventative measures - In addition to regular maintenance, several preventative measures can help safeguard external woodwork against damage. Trim back overhanging branches to prevent moisture accumulation and reduce the risk of falling debris. Install gutters and downspouts to divert rainwater away from wooden surfaces. Elevate wood structures above ground level to minimize contact with soil and prevent termite infestations. Finally, consider applying a fungicide or insecticide treatment for added protection against pests and fungal growth.
